We believe in being straight about who we are. This disclaimer explains the boundaries of what SVP does, so there's no room for misunderstanding.
Sydney Venture Partners ("SVP") is an unincorporated, volunteer, student-led not-for-profit community. We are not an investment fund, we are not a financial services licensee, and we are not licensed advisers. We charge no fees and handle no money.
Nothing we publish, say, or share, including any feedback, scorecards, discussions, or events, is financial product advice, investment advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any investment. Our activities are educational and for general information only. Always seek advice from a licensed professional before making any investment decision.
We may help founders get ready to speak with investors, but we don't provide legal, tax, accounting, or other professional advice. For those, please consult a qualified professional.
Where there's a genuine fit, we may make a simple, factual introduction. We don't negotiate terms, set valuations, arrange deals, or handle money or documents, and we don't guarantee any funding, outcome, or result from an introduction, an event, or anything else we do.
SVP was founded by students, but we operate independently. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any university or other institution.
Information on this site is provided in good faith and for general purposes. It may not be complete or current, and you shouldn't rely on it as the sole basis for any decision. Nothing here creates any professional or advisory relationship between you and SVP.

Sydney Venture Partners ("SVP", "we", "us") is an unincorporated, volunteer, student-led not-for-profit association based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. We care about your privacy, and we keep things simple, because we collect very little.
We only ever see the information you choose to give us — through our contact form or by email. We use it for one thing: to reply to you. We don't track you, we set no cookies, we run no analytics, we send no newsletters, and we never sell or share your information.
We don't collect anything automatically — there's no tracking on this website. The only personal information we hold is what you voluntarily give us, either through our contact form or when you email us. That typically means your name, your organisation (if you choose to tell us), your email address, the type of enquiry you select, and whatever you write in your message (for example, a founder's pitch, or a note of interest in becoming a member or attending an event).
We use the information you send us solely to respond for the purpose you contacted us about:
We will not use your information to sign you up for anything, add you to a mailing list, or contact you for unrelated purposes.
When you use our contact form, your message is sent to us as an email through our website host's mail server and lands in our inbox — we don't keep form submissions in a separate database. From there, your message sits in our email inbox, and we may keep a short internal summary in our private workspace so the team can track and discuss genuine enquiries. Some of the tools we use to receive and organise email and notes may store data on servers outside Australia.
We keep the information you send us for up to two years, so we can follow up and stay in touch about your enquiry. We'll delete it sooner if you ask us in writing, and we'll keep or delete it differently where the law requires.
If you're a founder, your pitch materials stay yours. We work from what you choose to share to give feedback; we ask our members to keep founders' confidential documents with the founder rather than on SVP systems, and we don't distribute your materials without your say-so.
As part of our learning community, we may develop internal evaluation scorecards and notes based on the startup materials you share with us, both to help our members build their judgment and to help us identify startups to feature at our Demo Days and other events. These scorecards are kept private to SVP and are not shared with third parties.
If you'd like us to delete a copy of anything you've sent, just ask.
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we'll take care of it.
This website and our activities are intended for adults (18 and over). We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date above.
